Starting a Blog

For quite a while now, I’ve been thinking about starting a blog. Some of my colleagues at Georgia Tech and other schools write them and I’ve enjoyed reading their thoughts and hearing their opinions in those forums. I’ve had ideas for topics from time to time, but was just always too busy to make it happen. Well, I finally decided to give up on that excuse.

I likely won’t write columns all that frequently, but I hope to put a new one together every couple months or so. I’ll write mostly about computer science and data visualization research, the focus of my work.  More and more, I’ve found myself with ideas that aren’t appropriate for an academic paper, but I think could be of interest to the community at large. This seems like a good home for them.

Coming next: Impressions from VIS ’16.
